About Us

Your Friends in Action was founded in 2003 under the name Faith in Action and in affiliation with Rainbow Hospice Care.

The purpose of the organization was to address the needs of a growing number of elderly, disabled and chronically ill people in the community who needed just a little extra help to stay living independently in their homes.

All services are provided free of charge. Although eligibility is not based on financial need, care recipients typically live on a limited income and have no family members, friends or other resources available to help them. Depending on circumstances, the assistance we provide can be short or long term.

Becoming a Friend in Action could possibly be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. And it’s easy! You can make a world of difference to someone else just by doing things like making a phone call, picking up a few groceries, vacuuming a floor, raking leaves or shoveling a sidewalk.

The simple gift of a helping hand an hour or two of your time is all it takes…

How you can help:

Become a Volunteer:

Volunteers are screened and trained before they are given an assignment and program staff members work with the volunteer to find projects that match skills and interests. Volunteers always choose how, when and where they would like to serve.

Make a Donation:

We rely solely on financial gifts from local individuals, businesses and other organizations to keep our program strong. Gifts of money, gift and gas cards, in-kind goods and services are all effective ways to contribute. Regardless of the type or size of your gift, your support will make a big difference to those in need.

Spread the Word:

Tell your family, friends, co-workers, church, civic or youth group about Your Friends in Action, and encourage them to get involved. We hope you will become a volunteer and/or donor so that we can continue to respond to an ever-increasing number of requests for assistance.
